the art kid turned copywriter
Every Christmas and birthday, I’d ask for what every kid did. Art supplies. It was the classic stick figure scribbles before I learned to write. Then watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil in elementary, followed by knitting, jewelry making, and photography in middle and mixed media, screen printing, and pottery in high school. I was the art kid.
But I didn’t realize I was also the writer. Before any new creation, I’d write out, in jumbled yet detailed paragraphs, how the piece would look. I wrote in order to create. Imagine my excitement when I discovered there was a job just for that. Now I write, and that is my art. So I guess I’m still the art kid.
